Sok Sabay was born in Paris, on May 25th 1995 (Journal Officiel, Paris, France) I was then on my bicycle, searching funds among pharmaceutical groups and publishing companies. After summiting the project to hundreds of companies and private donors, four major companies (IPSEN Beaufour International, SANOFI, World council of Churches) responded positively. Then, I got some precious help from French and Belgian private donors, they believed in me and in my vision, before Sok Sabay was even born in Cambodia.

With my personal funds, I went to Cambodia. At that point, I was ready to start. It took me one year (96 to 97) to get approved by the ministry of social affairs for my project called: Medical care and therapy for young prostituted children in Cambodia. The doors of the shelter opened in September 1997. In 2000, we expanded our project to all mistreated children (torture, enslavement, starvation).

Those 15 years have been a real challenge. It has been a long journey to achieve what is Sok Sabay today. These years wouldn’t have been so successful without the great impact of godparents, donors, exceptional sponsors, friends and family of Marie Cammal.
