About Sok Sabay

Sok Sabay Logo

Sok Sabay is a registered charity that cares for children in Cambodia. We have a residential shelter in Phnom Penh, for children who have been rescued from domestic violence, physical or mental abuse, slavery, starvation, abandonment, acute & chronic malnutrition.

Sok Sabay means ‘happiness’ in Khmer and about 60 children are cared for in a secure, friendly & nurturing environment at Sok Sabay. The children are involved at the Singapore International School of Phnom Penh, are offered permanent extra curriculum according to their needs in maths, languages, physics, chemistry.

We give them good accommodation, proper clothing & three meals a day plus extra snacks. Health and medical care are given either in Sok Sabay or in the proper private local clinics and dentistry in town. We also help the children attain social and psychological counseling.

Our Goals

Since 1997 Sok Sabay’s goals are to help vulnerable young children an opportunity to receive health & education.

Ultimately we want them to have good job opportunities and empower them to help drive their families away from poverty.

We want to give them back a future, which due to various circumstances, has been stolen from them.

In the case of many of our children, we have seen this goal fulfilled, and they have become the first generation in their families to be successful in their studies & life.

The Children of Sok Sabay

Our Children are not necessarily Orphans, but come from a very desperate social back rounds, where, in many cases, they were vulnerable or in danger.

Most children are referred to Sok Sabay through social workers.

Education

Sok Sabay supports the long term education of the post secondary school diploma students. We offer them the opportunity to continue their studies in college and universities, and we help them with the expenses of the education and their daily life.

We are very proud of our eight successful Post Graduate students: Re, Fa, Rosanna, Lillie, Nancy, Sopheap, Kevin and Vichna. Well done!

Sok Sabay has been privileged to not only rescue children, but also to be involved in their health, education and future.
